Dusit Thani College celebrates the success of dedication to developing education and hospitality industry in this 31st anniversary

31 May 2024

The first of June each year is a day of pride for Dusit Thani College members as it represents the college’s establishment day. In this year, it has come to the 31st anniversary while the celebration was held on May 30, 2024.

The celebration started in the early morning with an auspicious offering to Lord Ganesha, Dusit Thani College’s spiritual anchor. The ceremony was led by Dr. Atthawet Prougestaporn, RectorDusit Thani College, and other executives from Dusit Thani College and Dusit International. Followingly, the members went to Lord Brahma and the household spirits at the shrines in the area of Dusit Princess Srinakarin Bangkok for the same ritual. The group then paid respect to the statue of Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui, College Founder who got a broad vision to build a specialized educational institution for hospitality businesses. With her resolution, the college aims to provide high-quality personnel to hospitality industry and brings Thai hospitality to an international level. Afterwards, monks were invited to the college for the members to do alms rounds and food offerings.

DTC members then celebrated this success at Srinakarin Hall by joining the Buddhist blessing ceremony, watching Thai traditional blessing dance by Kaenthong Upathum School students, and congratulating staff who received royal insignias, DTC’s long year service awards, and outstanding research awards. The event concluded with an anniversary cake cutting which allowed all members to try delicate cakes topped with flower-shaped cream created by Ajarn Nongyao Youcharoen and a team of instructors, before having lunch together and the afternoon Islamic blessing ceremony.

Dusit Thani College continues to inherit the resolutions of its founder Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui to serve as a dedicated specialized educational institution to hospitality education. Not only developing academic landscapes, but the college has also kept up the enhancement of other components inside with the focus on joy and success of all students as well as the college members throughout 31 years.

Dusit Thani College is proud to announce that its students have once again placed among the top three at the ALLiance Sustainability in Hospitality Contest, organized by The Alliance Network in partnership with Relais & Châteaux — marking the second consecutive year the College has reached the podium in this international competition. In the 2026 edition, Ms. Purimprat Pradit, Ms. Isabella Marissa Stacy, and Mr. Pokin Puntu, first-year students from the International Hospitality Management and Professional Culinary Arts International programs — secured 2nd Runner-Up with Nai Mõng – Real Taste from the Countryside, a premium family dining concept rooted in the culinary traditions of Phatthalung, Southern Thailand. The project reimagines authentic Southern Thai cuisine through sustainably sourced, seasonal ingredients and a modern interpretation of local culinary heritage, inviting guests to experience sustainability not as a compromise but as part of an immersive, memorable dining journey. As 2nd Runner-Up, competing in their very first international competition, the team received a €200 voucher courtesy of Relais & Châteaux, an official certificate of achievement, and the opportunity to present their concept to the Relais & Châteaux CSR team. This year's result builds on a strong showing in 2025, when Dusit Thani College swept both 1st place (SHINRAI, a zero-waste culinary concept blending Japanese technique with Thai ingredients) and 2nd place (Re-leaf, a regenerative eco-wellness farm stay concept) in the contest's inaugural edition, triumphing over competitors from all 22 member countries of The Alliance Network at the time. The ALLiance Sustainability in Hospitality Contest challenges Hospitality and Culinary Arts students from Alliance member institutions — spanning more than 20 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa — to design innovative concepts that turn sustainability into an engaging, rewarding guest experience across its environmental, social, and economic dimensions, judged by a panel of industry professionals and sustainability experts. Two years running, students from Dusit Thani College's international program have proven that Thai culinary talent and sustainable thinking can consistently stand out on a global stage.
