Dusit Thani College supports growth in tourism business by hosting Hospitality Talent Fair 2024

25 March 2024

Dusit Thani College, an educational institution under the Dusit International, as Thailand’s first higher institution specializing in tourism and hospitality education, has a primary mission to nurture quality personnel for this industry. To follow this mission, the college organizes the annual Hospitality Talent Fair to provide opportunities for its students and graduates, as well as those from other institutions and the general public, to explore job opportunities and meet potential employers directly which increases chances of employment. The event also enables employers to immediately select suitable candidates, reducing processes and complexity for both parties. This can be considered an attempt to support the rebounded growth of the tourism and hospitality industry after the pandemic which currently causes a shortage of skilled professionals.

Dr. Praweena Kasai, Vice Rector of Student Affairs at Dusit Thani College, explained the backgrounds of establishing this event that “The tourism and hospitality industry has rapidly recovered after Covid-19, owing to China’s border re-opening policies and the government’s visa exemptions. The comeback, on the other hand, doesn’t align with the continuous shortage of skilled labor, leading to intense competitions in recruitment for both hiring and compensation. At the beginning of the year, Thai Hotels Association revealed that over 60% of hotels nationwide still faced challenges due to labor shortages, impacting service quality and capacity to accommodate customers. Therefore, to truly support the tourism and hospitality industry, we open opportunities not only for over 600 graduates from Dusit Thani College Bangkok and Pattaya campuses, but also for graduates from other institutions and interested individuals from outside to apply for jobs.”

Hospitality Talent Fair 2024 has gained strong participation from both domestic and international hospitality and tourism businesses in arranging booths at the fair, including hotels, restaurants, airlines, spas, and related companies and organization groups such as Dusit International, IHG Group, CoMo Politan, Park Hyatt, Peninsula Bangkok, Qatar Airways. There were also agencies offering international exchange and internship programs including American Learning Co., Ltd., IEE Thailand, I.E.O. Company Limited, IHappy Inter Education, and Interchange Thailand. Furthermore, various international educational institutions such as Glion, Les Roches, B.H.M.S. Business & Hotel Management School, Switzerland, Ekthana Hospitality Education Services Co., Ltd., Swiss Education Group, and International Trainee Network, LLC also joined the fair.

“Dusit Thani College is a leading educational institution in hotel management, tourism, and culinary arts,” concluded Dr. Praweena. “Therefore, we are committed to producing graduates ready for the hospitality industry and promoting their abilities to pursue careers both domestically and internationally. The Hospitality Talent Fair 2024 is one of the initiatives supporting the goal mentioned.”

Dusit Thani College is proud to announce that its students have once again placed among the top three at the ALLiance Sustainability in Hospitality Contest, organized by The Alliance Network in partnership with Relais & Châteaux — marking the second consecutive year the College has reached the podium in this international competition. In the 2026 edition, Ms. Purimprat Pradit, Ms. Isabella Marissa Stacy, and Mr. Pokin Puntu, first-year students from the International Hospitality Management and Professional Culinary Arts International programs — secured 2nd Runner-Up with Nai Mõng – Real Taste from the Countryside, a premium family dining concept rooted in the culinary traditions of Phatthalung, Southern Thailand. The project reimagines authentic Southern Thai cuisine through sustainably sourced, seasonal ingredients and a modern interpretation of local culinary heritage, inviting guests to experience sustainability not as a compromise but as part of an immersive, memorable dining journey. As 2nd Runner-Up, competing in their very first international competition, the team received a €200 voucher courtesy of Relais & Châteaux, an official certificate of achievement, and the opportunity to present their concept to the Relais & Châteaux CSR team. This year's result builds on a strong showing in 2025, when Dusit Thani College swept both 1st place (SHINRAI, a zero-waste culinary concept blending Japanese technique with Thai ingredients) and 2nd place (Re-leaf, a regenerative eco-wellness farm stay concept) in the contest's inaugural edition, triumphing over competitors from all 22 member countries of The Alliance Network at the time. The ALLiance Sustainability in Hospitality Contest challenges Hospitality and Culinary Arts students from Alliance member institutions — spanning more than 20 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa — to design innovative concepts that turn sustainability into an engaging, rewarding guest experience across its environmental, social, and economic dimensions, judged by a panel of industry professionals and sustainability experts. Two years running, students from Dusit Thani College's international program have proven that Thai culinary talent and sustainable thinking can consistently stand out on a global stage.
