Dusit Thani College Students Win the University Pastry Chef Championship on Iron Chef Thailand

16 October 2026

Three Dusit Thani College students delivered an outstanding performance to claim victory in The University Pastry Chef Championship, a special episode of Iron Chef Thailand held under the “Local Ingredients World Class Experiences” project, reaffirming their potential in culinary arts and the creation of innovative food products using Thai ingredients at an international standard.

The competition was organized through a collaboration between the Department of Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Heliconia H Group Co., Ltd., producer of Iron Chef Thailand. Under the concept of “Elevating Thai Ingredients to World-Class Bakery Creations,” the initiative aims to add value to Thai agricultural products through the creativity and skills of the new generation of culinary and bakery professionals.

The winners were Miss Pimpattra Pimpapron, Miss Naphak Vanichvoranan, and Miss Sattanan Wongsaroj, students from the Culinary Arts program at Dusit Thani College. Competing against teams from 20 leading higher education institutions nationwide, they successfully secured the title of The Winner.

The challenge required contestants to transform high-potential Thai ingredients, including Golden Banana, Aromatic Coconut, and Vannamei White Shrimp, into innovative bakery or pastry creations that showcase the unique identity of Thai ingredients while meeting modern consumer demands in terms of taste, creativity, and commercial viability.

The competition was as intense and demanding as the regular format of Iron Chef Thailand. Participants were required to manage their time effectively, solve unexpected problems, and work collaboratively under pressure. Every dish was evaluated by distinguished judges, including M.L. Pasan Sawatdiwat and Chef Chatchaya Raktakanit, President of the Chefs Association of Thailand, both highly respected figures in Thailand’s culinary industry.

Beyond identifying promising young pastry chefs, the project seeks to connect the education, business, and agricultural sectors. Its objective is to bring competition concepts into the commercial market through partnerships with leading coffee and café brands across the country, while increasing demand for Thai agricultural products and creating sustainable value for Thai farmers.

The success of these three students reflects Dusit Thani College’s commitment to experiential learning, combining hands-on practice with the development of creativity and professional skills in line with international standards in the food and hospitality industries.

Dusit Thani College extends its heartfelt congratulations to Miss Pimpattra Pimpapron, Miss Naphak Vanichvoranan, and Miss Sattanan Wongsarojfor bringing national recognition to the College and serving as inspiring examples of how knowledge, talent, and creativity can transform Thai ingredients into award-winning innovations.
