Since 2024, the Sarawak Tourism Board of Malaysia has initiated the Rainforest Youth Summit (RAYS), a regional international youth conference focused on developing solutions for environmental challenges, sustainability, and cultural preservation. This year, the summit will once again be held from 24–26 June 2026 in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
On this occasion, five students from Hospitality Management International Program, Dusit Thani College, an educational institution under Dusit International, namely Ms. Aye Myat Chal, Ms. Swe Zin Oo, Mr. Kanokpol Klomlee, Mr. Lin Htet Aung, and Ms. Jidlada Kloisawat, were awarded sponsorship support by Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) to travel to Malaysia and participate in the Rainforest Youth Summit (RAYS) 2026. As part of the sponsorship, PATA covered the accommodation expenses and event participation fees.
Organized by Sarawak Tourism Board, Rainforest Youth Summit (RAYS) 2026 is a global youth-centered platform dedicated to exchanging ideas and fostering discussions on climate action, biodiversity, and environmental sustainability. Since its establishment, the summit has welcomed more than 1,700 participants, featured over 50 speakers, and brought together representatives from more than 80 organizations across 37 countries worldwide.
In addition to attending the event, students also had the opportunity to learn about the culture of Malaysia and participate in various outdoor activities. These included a night walk at Sama Jaya Forest Park, as well as a chance to learn about and experience the natural habitat of orangutans at Semenggoh Wildlife Centre. Furthermore, RAYS provided students with complimentary access to attend the Rainforest World Music Festival 2026, offering them an additional valuable cultural experience.
