DTC Showtime 2025 by Dusit Thani College, where the inspiration of the service industry begins

09 September 2024

Recently, the world-famous magazine CEOWORLD Magazine surveyed readers’ opinions and found that Thailand is ranked number 1 as world’s best countries to visit in your lifetime. Meanwhile, at the beginning of this year, The Telegraph, a large media outlet from England, recently ranked Thailand as number 6 in the world on its list of “20 places you should travel to in 2024.” These data reflect that Thailand’s tourism and service industry is continuously growing. And it is still a huge income source for the country. Of course, Thailand’s tourism and service industries will need talents to support this growth.

Dusit Thani College, Thailand’s leading hospitality education institution under the Dusit Thani Hotel Group, aims to be a part of inspiring Thai youth to study the hospitality and tourism business. Recently, DTC Showtime 2025 ‘Spot Life’ was held at Dusit Thani College Bangkok and Pattaya Campus. The events earned more excellent feedback and participation from high school students above the expectation.

“Most occupations in the tourism and service industries cannot be replaced by AI,” Dr. Atthawet Prueksathaporn, President of Dusit Thani College, spoke during the opening of DTC Showtime 2025 ‘Spot Life’ at Dusit Thani College, Bangkok, “In the future, humans may be replaced by robots in many positions, but a career in this service industry requires humanity, feelings, and smiles, which robots don’t have. We therefore play an important role in training students to be ready for living and working with humans.

Dusit Thani College has been open for more than 30 years with the determination of Thanpuying Chanat Piyaoui, founder of the Dusit Thani Hotel Group. In those days, she found that when Dusit Group hired employees, they needed to be retrained anyway. Therefore, she decided to establish an institute to directly teach in this field. So, the college is a place that produces quality personnel for both the Dusit Group and other entrepreneurs. Dusit Thani College is one of the few educational institutions that have their own hotel for students to do, play and study.

DTC Showtime 2025 ‘Spot Life’ was filled with fun and informative activities that allowed attendees to learn what is it is like in the hospitality industry. For example, the Hotel Management Program offered the students to experience the working atmosphere at Dusit Princess Srinakarin Hotel, while the Culinary Arts Program allowed them to have workshop with 7 DTC’s alumni celebrity chefs.

Dusit Thani College is very pleased to see an overwhelming number of people attending the event. Because it shows that this event helps inspire Thai youth to truly become a part of the Thai tourism and service industry.

Dusit Thani College is proud to announce that its students have once again placed among the top three at the ALLiance Sustainability in Hospitality Contest, organized by The Alliance Network in partnership with Relais & Châteaux — marking the second consecutive year the College has reached the podium in this international competition. In the 2026 edition, Ms. Purimprat Pradit, Ms. Isabella Marissa Stacy, and Mr. Pokin Puntu, first-year students from the International Hospitality Management and Professional Culinary Arts International programs — secured 2nd Runner-Up with Nai Mõng – Real Taste from the Countryside, a premium family dining concept rooted in the culinary traditions of Phatthalung, Southern Thailand. The project reimagines authentic Southern Thai cuisine through sustainably sourced, seasonal ingredients and a modern interpretation of local culinary heritage, inviting guests to experience sustainability not as a compromise but as part of an immersive, memorable dining journey. As 2nd Runner-Up, competing in their very first international competition, the team received a €200 voucher courtesy of Relais & Châteaux, an official certificate of achievement, and the opportunity to present their concept to the Relais & Châteaux CSR team. This year's result builds on a strong showing in 2025, when Dusit Thani College swept both 1st place (SHINRAI, a zero-waste culinary concept blending Japanese technique with Thai ingredients) and 2nd place (Re-leaf, a regenerative eco-wellness farm stay concept) in the contest's inaugural edition, triumphing over competitors from all 22 member countries of The Alliance Network at the time. The ALLiance Sustainability in Hospitality Contest challenges Hospitality and Culinary Arts students from Alliance member institutions — spanning more than 20 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa — to design innovative concepts that turn sustainability into an engaging, rewarding guest experience across its environmental, social, and economic dimensions, judged by a panel of industry professionals and sustainability experts. Two years running, students from Dusit Thani College's international program have proven that Thai culinary talent and sustainable thinking can consistently stand out on a global stage.
