Dusit Thani College organizes DTC Showcase 2024 showcasing masterpieces of students, alumni, and instructors  

Dusit Thani College, Thailand’s leading educational institution for hospitality business under Dusit International, has recently organized DTC Showcase 2024 at Seacon Square Srinakarin which showcases masterpieces of students, alumni, and instructors in the forms of workshops, talk sessions, shows, exhibition booths, and merchandises. The concept of this event was “Power of Love”, defining the love toward their learning, to emphasize the college’s supremacy in hospitality education in Thailand.  

“It is an annual event of Dusit Thani College. We previously called it “an academic week” and we changed it to DTC Showcase following the current trend. This is the second time that we have arranged the event outside the college”, said Dr. Atthawet Prougestaporn, Acting Rector of Dusit Thani College. “The root of Dusit Thani College came from the resolution to prepare students readiness for work at the time they finish the college. Therefore, the institution concentrates on student’s practical experience which consequently become the outcomes that have been showcased in this event. This is to let visitors see the learning processes of each program while having the college’s offsprings – alumni – showcase and sell their products as a symbol of their successes. The concept “Power of Love” defines the love toward their learning because learning what you love and working as you like can ‘Turn Your Passion Into Your Profession’. We know that everyone studies for their future career, their dreams, and their fulfillment.” 

In this event, there were exhibition booths and stalls selling food, snacks, and products of current undergraduate and graduate students as well as alumni. Not only food- and service-related products, there were also merchandises of other categories which reflect the college’s competencies in business management education that serve managerial personnel to other industries other than hospitality. Moreover, there was a variety of entertaining and educating activities on the stage such as Innovative Entrepreneur Talk: Collaborate to Innovate that identified the importance of collaboration which created innovation in business, Menu for You, Menu to Care which offered new menu design and creation, Celebrity Talk under the topic “Decoding Success, Finding Ideas through the COVID Crisis” that revealed the strategies that brought leading restaurants and hotels through the COVID Crisis. There was also a community seminar and product showcase with Setsatian School under the Royal Patronage and Wat Sai Community about CSR projects Dusit Thani College has supported.  

The on-stage events included various workshops from Hotel Management program, Culinary Arts program, Hospitality Management international program, and Professional Culinary Arts international program including flower arrangement, scone baking, salad making, spa product creation, and so on. Dusit Thani College also hosted DTC Culinary & Hospitality Competition which gave the competitors cooking and table arrangement challenges and DTC Mixologist Competition that allowed participants to create their own drinks. The challengers came from higher education institutions in Bangkok and other provinces.  

Dusit Thani College is a subsidiary of Dusit International, having met its 75th anniversary of operation this year. The college serves as The Art of Inspiration or the starting point of inspiration for those learners in hospitality business. The college aims that the learners will become inspirers and pass on this inspiration from generation to generation following the founder of Dusit International’s resolution. We expect that DTC Showcase 2024 becomes one of the inspirations for the next generation to professionally join the hospitality industry.
