On January 8, 2025, Mr. Supakorn Zhang and Ms. Jirada Kluaymaingarm, third-year students from Dusit Thani College, along with their project advisor, Arjarn Papungkron Numprasit, International Hospitality Management Program lnstructor, were honored as youth representatives to pay respect and receive guidance from Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, along with receiving certificates of recognition from Police General Permpoon Chidchob, Minister of Education, and Mr. Surasak Phancharoenworakul, Deputy Minister of Education at the Santi Maitree Building, Government House, and the Teachers’ Council of Thailand Auditorium
The Dusit Thani College students brought honor to Thailand by winning first place in the Sustainable Hospitality Challenge 2024 regional semi-finals for Asia, Middle East, and Africa in Thailand. They advanced to the global finals, securing a position among the world’s top 7 teams at the competition held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, during the Future Hospitality Summit. Their project “Thara” showcased an organic water filtration system that combines ecological concepts with modern technology.
This achievement marks a significant milestone, as the Thai student team competed alongside world-renowned universities such as Cornell University from the United States, Thomas More University College from Belgium, and Politecnico di Milano from Italy, demonstrating the capabilities of Thai students on the international stage. The honor of meeting the country’s leader and receiving certificates of recognition serves as crucial encouragement for Thai youth in creating sustainable innovations and inspires future students to bring recognition to the nation.
