Pacific Asia Travel Association – PATA has recently chosen Thailand’s Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) to be the host venue of PATA Travel Mart 2024, an international tourism conference which opens opportunities for businesses in tourism industry from around the world including hotels, airlines, tourism agencies, and tour agents to negotiate, exchange knowledge, and build networks.
Among plenty activities of PATA Travel Mart, PATA Youth Symposium envisions the significant roles of the new generations in tourism industry as future leaders, so it gathers tourism students together in the conference to brainstorm ideas to develop tourism industry in the Asia-Pacific. In this year, Dusit Thani College, Thailand’s leading educational institution in hospitality and tourism business under Dusit International, is trusted by PATA to organize PATA Youth Symposium 2024 at Srinakarin Hall, Dusit Thani College Bangkok. PATA sees that Dusit Thani College is suitable for being the host this year as it is a renowned educational institution in creating new generations with hotel management, culinary arts, and business management skills.
In this conference, Mr. Peter Semone, Chairman of PATA, together with Mr. Simon Lloyd, Dean – Faculty of Hospitality Management of Dusit Thani College, honoredly gave opening speeches and welcomed students from various institutions to the event. After that, there were attention-grabbing lectures and seminars throughout the day, where future generations were able to gain knowledge and experience as well as sharing their thoughts to benefit others.
In addition to activities in Srinakarin Hall of Dusit Thani College, there was also a Career Fair which allowed students to find jobs. The fair featured leading organizations from the tourism sector in the Asia-Pacific to open booths for recruitment such as Dusit International, Khiri Travel, Rama Gardens Hotel, and Travel Compositor.
“World peace is achieved through tourism and travel”, said Dusit Thani College’s Dean – Faculty of Hospitality Management Mr. Simon Lloyd. “If you travel and experience different cultures, sit and talk to people who are different from you, have the opportunity to share food and learn about them, you and they will be more inclusive of each other, even if you may have different perspectives or attitudes from them. Today, Dusit Thani College is proud to host the event which brings together students from various institutions both in Thailand and from other Southeast Asian countries. This is an opportunity for everyone to share their ideas and learn from each other’s experiences in using tourism as a tool to build peace together.”
