Dusit Thani College is proud to announce that three of our students from the International Programs have advanced to the semi-final round of this year’s Sustainable Hospitality Challenge (SHC) in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from over 40 universities from around the globe,. This consistent achievement underscores the college’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability in the hospitality industry.
The Sustainable Hospitality Challenge (SHC) is a Hotelschool The Hague initiative that aims to enhance the evolution of sustainable hospitality, foster innovation driven by the leaders of tomorrow, and nurture talents on a global scale by bringing them close to industry organizations who want to reimagine the future of hospitality. For the first time, the challenge this year will include leading international architecture, technology, and design universities joining the participating top-tier hospitality institutions to form multidisciplinary student teams.
The students, Mr. Thanawat Chaophatcharathavekij and Miss Holly Thofan Mackay from the Professional Culinary Arts program, and Mr. Bryan Ronaldo Molina Josal from the Hospitality Management program, have shown exceptional dedication and creativity in their approach to sustainable hospitality solutions. Their project, NEST, an acronym for “Nurturing Environmental Sustainability Together,” is a conceptual community center designed to promote the restoration of the desert surrounding NEOM (a planned smart city in Saudi Arabia). With a biomorphic design which allows a seamless integration with the surrounding landscape, NEST is committed to sustainability and works towards environmental restoration through its operations.
Participating in the SHC has provided the students with a unique opportunity to meet and interact with industry leaders, CEOs, and managers from renowned companies. This experience has broadened their vision, enhanced their understanding of the industry, and allowed them to develop a mindset that embraces innovation and sustainability. The competition has also challenged them to step out of their comfort zones, fostering a spirit of resilience and adaptability that will undoubtedly serve them well in their future careers.
