Dusit Thani College, Thailand’s leading hospitality education affiliated to Dusit International, has recently sent 2 selected students as representatives of Thailand to compete in 2 categories – Cooking and Floristry – at WorldSkills Lyon 2024 Competition in Lyon, France.
The competition challenged young generations worldwide to demonstrate their specialized skills. The results showed that Ms. Supichaya Maprom, Floristry student competitor from Culinary Arts and Kitchen Management Program, scored at the 11th position while Mr. Thanakon Chuangrattanawan from the same program was ranked 30th in the Cooking category. The students were coached and mentored by Chef Jatuporn Juengmeesuk, Ajarn Wimon Ounphet, Ajarn Nathinee Chiralaksanakul, Ajarn Napat Sriwarom, Ajarn Aucharaporn Amornsittinon, and Mr. Pasit Jongkit.
The WorldSkills Competition is a tournament for professional youths around the world with specialized and labor skills as vocations to compete. Organized by WorldSkills International, the competition started its first tournament in 1950 in Madrid, Spain. Currently, the WorldSkills Competition is spread worldwide and has qualifying competitions in many countries.
Dusit Thani College sponsors students to join various competitions throughout the year. The college aims that students are able to gain experiences which reinforce development of their skills, competencies, and professionalism, no matter if they win any awards or not.
