Dusit Thani College Students Showcase Gracious Sustainable Innovation at Dusit Leadership Conference 2024

08 November 2024

On the occasion of Dusit International – so called Dusit Group or Dusit Hotels and Resorts – celebrating its 75th anniversary, the group organizes Dusit Leadership Conference 2024 at the reimagined flagship Dusit Thani Bangkok hotel to gather and display gracious masterpieces of its subsidiaries.

Dusit International is a hospitality conglomerate featuring 4-to-5-star accommodations, hotels, and resorts in Bangkok as well as other destinations in Thailand and other countries. Dusit’s portfolio also includes other hospitality-related businesses such as restaurants, spas, and so on. Dusit International also trailblazed educational institutions specialized in hospitality business which serves all needs in the industry. Among the properties, Dusit Thani College offers formal education of bachelor’s programs in Business Administration, an MBA program, and public certification programs. In Dusit Leadership Conference 2024, Dusit Thani College had a chance to showcase the students’ groundbreaking project.

The project formulated by 3 students – Mr. Supakorn Zhang, Ms. Jirada Kluaymaingarm, and Ms. Natthanicha Teeraatthawet – from Professional Culinary Arts Program (international program) and Hospitality Management Program (international program) was given the name “Thara”. It is an organic water recycling system which uses plants to absorb graywater residues until the water is reusable for non-consumption purposes. The water will run through the vertical green wall to the sterilization box before going to the tap, reducing energy consumption and water waste. This innovation has gained a round of applause from the international delegation of Dusit executives and industry professionals as of the profound knowledge, creativity, and practicality these BBA students possess.

The project was able to get through to the final round of Sustainable Hospitality Challenge 2024 (SHC) in Dubai, UAE. The stage, initiated by one of the leading hospitality schools in the world from the Netherlands Hotelschool The Hague, aims to build a sandbox for young generations internationally to think outside the box and develop innovative sustainable products or services which can encounter the challenges of global hospitality industry and the world’s environment.

Dusit Thani College is proud of the abilities of 3 competitive students and of being an educational institution under Dusit International which plays a crucial role in cultivating quality personnel for hospitality industry in Thailand and all over the world.

Dusit Thani College is proud to announce that its students have once again placed among the top three at the ALLiance Sustainability in Hospitality Contest, organized by The Alliance Network in partnership with Relais & Châteaux — marking the second consecutive year the College has reached the podium in this international competition. In the 2026 edition, Ms. Purimprat Pradit, Ms. Isabella Marissa Stacy, and Mr. Pokin Puntu, first-year students from the International Hospitality Management and Professional Culinary Arts International programs — secured 2nd Runner-Up with Nai Mõng – Real Taste from the Countryside, a premium family dining concept rooted in the culinary traditions of Phatthalung, Southern Thailand. The project reimagines authentic Southern Thai cuisine through sustainably sourced, seasonal ingredients and a modern interpretation of local culinary heritage, inviting guests to experience sustainability not as a compromise but as part of an immersive, memorable dining journey. As 2nd Runner-Up, competing in their very first international competition, the team received a €200 voucher courtesy of Relais & Châteaux, an official certificate of achievement, and the opportunity to present their concept to the Relais & Châteaux CSR team. This year's result builds on a strong showing in 2025, when Dusit Thani College swept both 1st place (SHINRAI, a zero-waste culinary concept blending Japanese technique with Thai ingredients) and 2nd place (Re-leaf, a regenerative eco-wellness farm stay concept) in the contest's inaugural edition, triumphing over competitors from all 22 member countries of The Alliance Network at the time. The ALLiance Sustainability in Hospitality Contest challenges Hospitality and Culinary Arts students from Alliance member institutions — spanning more than 20 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa — to design innovative concepts that turn sustainability into an engaging, rewarding guest experience across its environmental, social, and economic dimensions, judged by a panel of industry professionals and sustainability experts. Two years running, students from Dusit Thani College's international program have proven that Thai culinary talent and sustainable thinking can consistently stand out on a global stage.
