The “48th Thailand National Games” or “Kanchanaburi Games”, a national sports championship for general public, has been held by Sports Authority of Thailand in Kanchanaburi province during 14-29 September this year.
In this game, a third year student of Dusit Thani College, an outstanding educational institution in hospitality education under Dusit International, from Culinary Arts and Kitchen Management Program Mr. Phuttabut Petsunthad was selected to represent a softball athlete and join the team under Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. Mr. Phuttabut played in a position of Third Base and took part in winning a victory by getting a gold medal in the men’s team softball tournament. The team scored higher than all 12 participating teams from other provinces and defeated the ex-champion team from Chiangmai in the final round with the score 8-3.
Mr. Phuttabut expresses his feeling toward this victory that “I feel very grateful since this is the first gold medal that I achieve and it is also the first in over 10 years for the Bangkok’s softball team in this competition. More importantly, all players in the team came from different places and needed to learn to adapt together. This helped drive the team toward the same direction as our coach had planned and resulted in this success. I would like to thank Dusit Thani College for supporting and allowing me to join this 48th Thailand National Games where I have a chance to meet victory.”
Despite being a specialized educational institution in hotel management and culinary arts, Dusit Thani College supports students to develop holistic skills, from hard skills to soft skills, in order to prepare students for an entry to the society with high quality in all dimensions. The support for Mr. Phuttabut’s participation in this competition shows a great example for the college attempt, but his determination to practice, undeniably, accounts the most for this success. This also proves everyone that Dusit Thani College students are more than culinary experts!
