Dusit Thani College students bring pride to Thailand at WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025

16 September 2025

WorldSkills ASEAN is one of the most anticipated competitions for aspiring culinary professionals across the region. As part of the WorldSkills International network, this prestigious event not only provides a platform for ASEAN youth to showcase their culinary expertise, but also fosters creativity through challenges that demand mastery in flavor, precision, and artistic presentation—within the high-pressure environment of an international competition.

Thailand has consistently participated in WorldSkills ASEAN as part of its commitment to elevating vocational skills to meet global standards. Since 1993, the Department of Skill Development has been the key agency responsible for selecting and preparing youth from across the country to represent Thailand at both regional and global levels.

At the most recent competition, WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 in the Philippines, the Thai delegation delivered an outstanding performance—securing 5 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, and 10 Medallions for Excellence. This achievement placed Thailand among the top three countries in the ASEAN region.

Dusit Thani College is proud to celebrate the success of two students from its Culinary Arts program: Mr. Nakarin Jaroonpunvanich and Ms. Bussakorn Jiamsakul. Representing Thailand in the Cooking category, Mr. Nakharin earned both a gold medal and the prestigious Best of Nation award, while Ms. Bussakorn received a Medallion of Excellence.

Reflecting on his achievement, Mr. Nakharin shared: “I’m truly grateful. Preparing for this competition required immense resources—not just ingredients or financial support, but also human resources. Our instructors, experts, and fellow students all contributed their time and effort to help us train. The Department of Skill Development and our sponsors provided funding, accommodation, uniforms, and much more. Their belief in us motivated us to give our very best.”

Ms. Bussakorn added: “Before enrolling at Dusit Thani College, I never imagined I would represent my country—or even my college. It’s a great honor to be chosen as Thailand’s representative. Very few people receive such an opportunity, and I’m proud that our efforts have benefited not just ourselves, but the wider community.”

Dusit Thani College, which provided kitchen facilities and other resources for training, commends the dedication and perseverance of both students. The college also extends its gratitude to the organizations that supported this success: the Skill Development Fund, Department of Skill Development, Fonterra Brands (Thailand) Limited, Thai Flour Mill Industry Co., LTd, and Nordways Thailand.
