In 2023, Dusit Thani College, Thailand’s leading educational institution specializing in hospitality businesses under Dusit International, successfully organized the DTC Young Chef Challenge 2023, receiving an overwhelming response from twelve partner schools. More than one hundred students participated in the culinary and beverage competitions held at the college. The event also garnered strong support from sponsors dedicated to empowering and developing the skills of the nation’s youth.
Building on the success of previous years, Dusit Thani College is proud to launch the DTC Young Chef & Hospitality Challenge 2025. This year’s competition is divided into four categories under two main disciplines: Culinary Arts, which includes Western Cuisine and Bakery, and Hotel Management, which includes Beverage Mixing and Table Setting. Participants are required to compete in teams of 7 to 10 students. This year, the competition has attracted an impressive twenty-eight teams, comprising over three hundred high school students from twenty-four partner schools that have academic collaboration agreements with Dusit Thani College.
To enhance the knowledge, skills, and techniques of the participating students ahead of the final competition on July 5, 2025, Dusit Thani College held a comprehensive workshop on June 19, 2025. The workshop, conducted by the college’s expert instructors, covered all competition categories, including Beverage Mixing, Table Setting, Western Cuisine (Appetizer), Western Cuisine (Main Course), and Bakery.
“We organized this competition because we wanted the participants to think critically, practice teamwork, and plan together,” said Dr. Atthawet Prougestaporn, Rector of Dusit Thani College. “Additionally, we aim to provide them with the opportunity to enjoy activities they love and showcase their talents and creativity. Dusit Thani College is committed to developing skilled professionals and helping people build meaningful careers. We hope these students will pursue careers they are passionate about in the future. Furthermore, today’s workshop is designed to lay a foundation by showing them what it truly means to be a chef and work in the hospitality industry—not just on the glamorous side, but also the challenges. This will help them understand themselves early on—what they want to study and what they want to become—which is crucial for their success in learning and development.”
Dr. Praweena Kasai, Vice Rector of Student Affairs at Dusit Thani College, added, “Dusit Thani College is very excited to welcome the students and teachers from our twenty-four partner schools who will compete on July 5, 2025. We want this competition to be more than just a contest for prizes; we hope it will serve as a platform to foster friendships between institutions and help develop the skills and expertise of the participating students. That is why we organized today’s workshop — to give everyone the chance to get to know each other and enhance their abilities in preparation for the final round.”
